Map editor

Hey! I'm one of the early backers and haven't been here in a while.
Great to see how far this game has come :-)

Would it be possible to provide some sort of map editor to the community?
I'd really like to try recreating the tracks from RC1.

A big jump like in the demo track of RC1 would be nice.

Re: Poll: Who likes powersliding?

I don't mind drifting as long as it is kind of like in RC1. I don't want a ridge racer style drifting.

Re: [LISTED] RC2 Race Position Indicator

It is just an indicator. As such it should be as simple as possible, so it isn't very distracting. Profile Pictures are something for the leader board. But if it is optional sure, why not. If enough people want profile pictures in the HUD. I think the cars should represent the player through customi...

I also thought PhysX doesn't work on AMD GPUs, systems with those cards have to use the CPU not matter what.

Make the Engines Power up Before the Race begins

We have these big powerfull cars with 10.000 PS or something like this. But we don't get to hear one of the most awesome things about them: the sound when they start up. This would be something new. None of the RC games had such a thing. There was the turbo start, but that is just not the same. To c...

The FPS decrease only happens in the Biodome after a few cars got ejected.

Re: Remove/Reduce Collision with Physx objects

Well. Yes. But we are not talking about 1 barrel here. We are talking about a lot of "barrels". It is just annoying to gain speed and then run into an obstacle again. The way RC1 handled it was nice. You just got slowed down a bit by a rock or something or the shock wave of something explo...

If there is any themal throtteling going on then it is the CPU, but not the GPU. I'm pretty sure. And I don't have any slow frame drops in other games.

Re: [READ] Wider streets made of asphalt with more grip and better drift ability on the dusty parts

Well, as I mentioned: drifiting should be there, but GRIP should encourage you to not use it. This has also something to do with skill. I don't want a ridge racer game with weapons and big cars, where everybody just hits the handbrake to conveniently take a difficult turn or turn combination with ea...

Re: [READ] Wider streets made of asphalt with more grip and better drift ability on the dusty parts

I remember when playing RC1 on the highest difficulty, it was always better to take every turn perfect without drifting. That way I was always ahead of the others. Just one crash though and with a very high chance you are not gonna win the race. The AI was just too good/fast. RC is an arcade racer, ...

Re: [READ] Wider streets made of asphalt with more grip and better drift ability on the dusty parts

Drifting was definitely part of the RC games, but it was more of a nuance than a key gameplay feature. It is also not the most efficient way to get around a turn. But with that kind of speed it is not possible to not drift at some point. So drifting should be there, but the game should encourage not...

Did you assign the GRIP.exe or the corresponding 64 bit exe to your GPU? By default it was assigned to the Intel HD Graphics.

RC2 Race Position Indicator

I found that one to be very helpful in the past. It show a straight line and a little car or dots that represent the cars and their positions in the current lap. So I know who is close or how much I have to catch up.

It can be seen here on the left:

Nooo! I always used the turbo or double turbo to escape or evade rockets in Rollcage.

That would be so awesome.

Important for Gamers on a Laptop/Notebook

If you are gaming on a laptop like me. Don't forget to assign the GRIP.exe to your Nvidia/AMD GPU. It was assigned to Intel HD Graphics by default. And I was like "WTF! Why is this so awfull?".
