Re: GRIP Update 1.0.10 now available on Steam Private branch!

We're even considering loosening the Dreadnought up a bit as it feels a bit too much in control for something so weighty. Seriously? Car is unable to to turn left\right while moving fast, and it cannot drift at all. Are you trying to make futuristic version of Project Cars? That's not the experienc...

Re: AI behaviour

Our real problem here is that real players, hardcore players, don't make many mistakes - they handle the tracks as well as you can imagine. Combined with the fact that most parts of most tracks can't really be driven with significantly more speed than the vehicles already have, this makes it very d...

Re: GRIP Update 1.0.10 now available on Steam Private branch!

I love the collisions but who soaped my wheels? It feels like I slide around with 0 friction whenever I lose control the slightest. The first shotcut in Yuri industrial feels nearly impossible since you now very easily lose control and when you do there's no getting out of the tunnel as it seems :?...

Re: GRIP Update 1.0.10 now available on Steam Private branch!

The "One wheel tug" I refer to is when you land with just one wheel on the ground, and your car whips around it at weird angles like all the grip of all four wheels has been focused on that one tire. It was a significant problem back in ~1.0.3 era, but had gotten less and less prominent a...

Re: The EMP

We like lightning effects, they're just very tricky to do right and rendering in a convincing style. This is something we would work towards, but it's going to be too time-consuming to do right now so expect improvements in the future.

Re: AI behaviour

I play on Wild engine speed, hardest difficulty level. If you want to see what I mean, just drive 8 laps of Alhatra. You'll be able to lap the lower positions easily there, which will allow you to see exactly what I mean. Yeah, we're not really ready for Wild engine speed, it was a gift with the pr...

Re: AI behaviour

Take heart though, that it's early days with AI yet and it needs quite a bit more work - there will be many changes. I suggest to start on AIs consistency, as that's the main thing that makes them slow :D I'm not sure what you mean by "consistency", but at our end the main thing that has ...

Re: The EMP

It's very OP and Chris said that's currently in part to compensate for the lack of proper catchup. I'd imagine proper balancing begins (for all weapons, including drop tables) once multiplayer is well in. It's not accurate to say there is not proper catchup in the game, in fact the catchup system i...

Re: The EMP

The EMP is meant to try and level the field a bit, and its effect is designed around that. Players behind the aggressor, in terms of race distance, don't get affected at all in real terms. Players in front, do get affected, according to how far in front they are - the further in front, the more they...

Re: AI behaviour

but getting rammed from behind 4-5 times in a row by AI cars, that isn't cool either. AI vehicles never deliberately go out of their way to hit you, yet. In fact, for the last month or two they actually go out of their way to avoid you when the avoidance scenario is reasonably manageable. As for bl...

5. Tank Combatant Tank class cars often get stuck uphill. it's as if the car would not be enough power. Tank car feels too heavy, and therefore respond to the pit / inflatables in too hard. -Tank car headlights missing. -tank car accelerates too slowly start. This has all been addressed internally ...

3. Scorpion missile Sometimes the tunnels will shoot the missile as the missile goes immediately into the wall and continue the journey. It's generally not advisable to shoot missiles when inside a tunnel. Although they do have terrain following ability, they have no real AI for avoiding walls or o...

Re: I do not enjoy anymore (evolved to discussion with codemonkey about physics details)

After a lot of experimentation, testing and coordination with the PhysX team at NVidia, we've been making some significant forward moves with the vehicle collision responses.. Does all this coordination with PhysX team mean that the basic form of PhysX for the vehicles that nVidia provides will be ...

I just thought I should mention here that we're making some real, if slow progress with vehicle physics improvements. After a lot of experimentation, testing and coordination with the PhysX team at NVidia, we've been making some significant forward moves with the vehicle collision responses. It's no...

Re: [LISTED] To be able to get (and use) two turbo pick-ups at the same time

There will be a whole upgrade / powering-up of pickups and weapons system in place before the end of the game - this will cover the case of a powered-up turbo your're proposing here so no worries. If it would work like in stage 2.... Dayum that would be awesome. Having 2 turbos in each slot and usi...

Re: Several things about car handling

I think another reason they're having trouble with the cars getting punted into the air is BECAUSE the physics are mostly realistic. When an object hits an object at a high velocity, kinetic energy has to go somewhere. In the real world it goes into turning one or both of the objects into shrapnel ...

Re: GRIP Update 1.0.9 is on Steam!

I cant launch it with lower resolution than 1024*600 on my notebook even though 1.0.5.0 used to launch in 800x600. We stripped anything lower than 1024 wide from the resolution list as the game isn't designed to run on such a small screen from a UI perspective. And if you're having to reduce your r...
