There are free ways of having a voice chat for entire communities. Razer Comms offers a really good one (and at a higher quality than majority TS3 or mumble servers). No point spending money there at all. It all depends on how much they could get from donations though. I know that some people can be really generous when it comes to this kind of thing, so you never know.

There's that, but also a Mumble server is really cheap. I'm renting the Rollcage Steam Group mumble server for a sandwich per month. Literally.
And it can hold up to 20 people in one room (we never reached that maximum), with multiple rooms, good quality etc..

Well, with Comms you have unlimited amount of people, protection from DDoS, ability to create multiple rooms etc. It works really well, also has an in-game overlay capability, so yeah... it's really functional, for free. You could direct that sandwich to GRIP devs, that way slightly less issue with food in the work xD

Go for it. I think the flamers would be a small portion and no one would pay attention.

Hey guys,

If you'd like to further support us, you can buy some extra keys through our Paypal account. Some users have already done this.

Just shoot me an email: chris@cagedelement.com

I'll confirm the payment and send over some fresh keys.

As always, we appreciate all the love you guys are giving us, and GRIP

Nice option I have actually been thinking about buying to friends since they are cheapskates and won't buy themselves no matter what I say.

1 question though, how is this different than buying on Steam directly? Would you say that you'd prefer people buying the keys this way..? If you know what I mean? ;)

It's easier sharing keys than having to buy through Steam, adding someone as a friend, then gifting it over.

Well, yes, although I agree in most situations, this is a personal preference.

What I tried to inquire in a subtle way was that does CE get a bigger cut when bought this way

If you ask me, I'd say yeah. Last time I heard Valve takes a 30% cut on every copy sold through Steam, whereas Paypal takes a lot less than that.

Yeah, they take 3.4% + 0.25€ (dunno in dollars). Better go with PayPal than Steam.

Yeah cool, I'll get a few more keys.

I like the Patreon idea too though - seems like everyones using it. Grip players who upload a video could just talk about it during the video. Maybe caged can put one together showing their progress on the game and talking about it (I would love to see another professional trailer!).

The fact that the game needs content and tuning atm would work in our favour. Rally those troops that loved the Kickstarter, show them how far things have come!

Yeah, buying directly through us instead of Steam reaps us the bigger profit, but if Steam is preferred, then no problem. We're just happy to get more support

I think Patreon would come across as a bit needy, as we're already released on Steam and have the game for sale. Just seems odd to have a perpetual crowd funding page running for the game

Couple of suggestions that would make me invest more in the game....

I am fortunate enough to have my name listed in the screen on the inside of the start gate, and its quite a buzz.

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1688&hilit=name+in+game

You could maybe ask peeps to donate and get their name in the game, on a big screen by the track side or just left as is.

This could be a small charge for a lottery type thing, where names are entered into a draw or a big charge type thing where you definitely get a mention in game.

It may be extra work to implement but I think some would pay to get their name in the final game.

Second Idea -
I missed out on the very early backer status and therefore can't access the steam beta versions without a key ( I know we had access to beta MP)

Is there a way you could reset that key, and then only give the code to the people that donated extra if they arent already involved in the very early access beta.

Yeah we had similar perks in our Kickstarter campaign. Thing is, getting people's name in the game is extra work, including keeping tabs on who's eligible.

I think I'd rather keep it as further support being a transaction, as in us giving them keys for their money. That way there's no extra work or maintenance on our end, but they get their money's worth in return.
