GRIP developers

Postby Whiplash » Sun Jul 19, 2015 3:27 pm

It would be nice to have updated information about all developers that will be grouped around the GRIP in the future. Right now we know most of the needed info about Rob only (and that's just because some of us have met him on steam forum before). I've noticed that Chris is going to play a big role there too at the moment when forum was activated together with those first voting topics. But, instead of just seeing new names on the forum, I'd like to read about the story that is behind, like:
- How and when you two (Rob and Chris) met each other;
- How big do you see the whole group of developers that will join you;
- What are the new names there and what each of them is supposed to work on;
- And, why not, show some pictures and videos of the place where you're developing the game. :twisted: (I guess you're not going to work on it from distance, especially once you get a bigger crew). Consider including that to Kickstarter video too, cause, from my experience, such a content always makes good effect on audience.

Hey Whiplash

I can't really get into detail right now, but here's some point form:

-I saw Rob's Rollcage Redux on the Rollcage Steam group when searching for Rollcage in general. I then contacted him with a poorly worded proposal for making the game and it's a miracle he agreed

-The team will be smaller than 10

-New names where? StinkinMushroom is the only other GRIP dev on this forum and he does motion graphics (3D GRIP logo) and UI

-There is no studio currently. There would be if we had money ;)
That's why we're going on Kickstarter. To get money to make this game and subsequently, open a small studio

so now that youve moved onto EA via steam what are the plans/ideas for a Studio or just keep it a small group and when the money rolls in start a studio?

The latter sounds like the best plan, but renting a small office for a friendly price is almost always do-able. I just don't hope they live hundreds of miles away from each other if they consider that.
And the Dutch said: "Wees zuinig", and thus, somewhat later, we had the moneyz.

Everyone on the current team lives pretty far away from each other. We're spread across the globe, which makes having a local studio a bit difficult.

That said, ideally we'd want to hire two or so artists to work with me here in Toronto, and for that we need a proper space.

Qualifications are useless for artists.
You upload your portfolio, people hire you based on your portfolio.

Although harsh with his delivery (lol), Broscar is right, portfolio = everything. At least with Artists, which is all we need, really.

Shoot an email to grip@cagedelement.com if you want, azoth!
