Help spread the word!

Postby Stinkinmushroom » Tue Aug 11, 2015 1:08 pm

As you all know, the kickstarter page for GRIP just started. With the help of everyone we can make sure GRIP is a success.
Here are some ways you could help with spreading the word:

Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/16 ... escription

- Share / like / comment on social media:

Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gripvideogame
A nice comment and a share goes a long way!

Twitter: https://twitter.com/gripvideogame
A retweet from this will be helpful: https://twitter.com/gripvideogame/statu ... 7194205184
as well as commenting etc. Hashtags that you can use: #UE4 #indiedev #PC #steam

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg1Hcd ... E98qBAmagw
A thumbs up on the latest videos and a comment would be great.
If you can share the latest video on FB/twitter, that would be great too

Neogaf: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1094214
If you have an account, some discussions on the thread will keep it on the first page for a while

For other forums, if you are a member on IGN / Gamespot / Giantbomb /... feel free to post a thread and share the news!

... Will add more once it's more out there. The point is, if you can share / tweet etc out of different sources, that would be great

If you have a reddit account, it could be useful to install the AlienTube (for Firefox, for Chrome) extension, which adds to the comments in a youtube video the comment threads for the reddit posts that link to the same video. This way you can keep track of the coverage on the various subreddit this way and updoot them accordingly across all boards.
And besides, you should really do that anyway. Youtube comments are not safe for life.

Maybe someone can make a banner so people can put it into their Forum signatures?
the gaming forums i hang around usually allow Banner with 600 x 150 Pixel and 488,3 KB

You could just put that Banner into your Sig and add a small text like "the spiritual successor to Rollcage now on Kickstarter"

this would generate attention when people are just browsing totally unrelated threads or archived stuff :)

This.

I moderate a decently-sized forum (anime, but eh) so it would probably get some coverage from there given that I also mod the videogames forum over on it. :P There's a few other forums I go on as well.

I'm also looking for it. But I'm not good at making banners :(

The kickstarter has been announced on PC Gamer.
I didn't even know what was in the splatter pack before I bought it.

Ok so i don't even know anymore how many gaming news sites i've sent emails to. Is there any way we can keep track of the coverage we've received so far, maybe telling us if we're no longer on the front page and more important, what gaming sites we've overlooked!

Also, what about some paid publicity?

eurogamer, jeuxvideo.com, and a couple of others as well. sharing by tweet or facebook those articles are definitely helpful too, I'll post them here:

Doing what I can!

Started the NeoGAF thread (More_Badass over there)
Wrote about the KS on my blog
Emailed sites (campaign got coverage on IndieGames.com)
Asked some other Kickstarters if they could mention GRIP in updates this month
Made an Imgur album
Posted on Reddit
Tweeted and retweeted

Said it in the KS comments, but I really think the devs should think about sending builds to Youtube channels. I've seen numerous times how much help it can be if a popular channel does a video. If anything, Youtubers can have a bigger effect than sites.

They can also be detrimental.

When NerdCubed found out about Wreckfest, the day before the game/forums were small and niche and the day after, literal thousands of people that act like 14-year-olds were spamming the forum/servers giving everybody a headache. I appreciate the coverage that some of these people can give, but personally their 'communities' make me cringe.

I suppose if they get an extra $200,000 for Rob & Chris & Co then it'll be the lesser of two evils....

There are plenty people here who can get minor Youtube coverage going, at least. People that can drive, too.

That's awesome to see that everyone is contributing in spreading the word :)

If more and more people keep hearing about GRIP, they might make it to their goal

I wonder if it would be possible to get this on the PS blog? Or at least maybe tweet at some of the Sony people? Like Shuhei Yoshida, Sid Shuman(PS Blog US) or Fred Dutton(PS Blog EU). I think I remember Harmonix doing a couple of posts there for Amplitude. I think that Kickstarter is a good analog for this one. They did tons of promotion and only squeaked to their goal.
