Please consider less intrusive HUD placement & glitching

Postby playabot » Wed Aug 16, 2017 1:11 am

Just a few thoughts on the current HUP layout.

The pack indicator (top left) is good – provides clear indication of your placement in relation to other racers - Elegant solution really. How about incorporating lap number and race position number into the top band?

Could the damage % be removed? I think that the flames, electricity ect on the vehicle and flashing HUD adequately communicate level of damage to the player.

Could the jump charge indicator be re-worked? Potentially, instead of the large bar to the top of the screen how about further customising the speedometer? ...a little blue dot/circle??

Please also consider lessening the glitch effect on the HUD at lower levels of damage.

Please do something about the position indicator, it's really obstructing view especially in splitscreen. Maybe let us customize the HUD? Size and location and on/off for every thing? Or just that we could select Normal HUD / Minimalist HUD / No HUD

Maybe the jump charge indicator could be on the car somehow? Like a relatively small led on the back of the car that first turns red, then yellow and then green when the jump is fully loaded. Or a small bar in the bumber of the car.

The respawn bar is useless, IMO, and now that I think of it, the jump bar too. A small indication that the jump is ready would be enough

Yeah, I'd like the HUD to be more be less bulky in some areas too. I've set the HUD opacity to 65% as a (hopefully temporary) solution to avoid it to obscure to much vision.

Nooo, please no! I hate integrated HUD in games, it looks totally weird and ridiculous. Redout and Splinter Cell Conviction are two games that comes first in mind.

I gotta admit that I am not a big fan of those either. I take my words back :D Except about customising HUD, that would be great. I would take out and make smaller alot of things out personally

HUD slightly lacks in sci-fi vibe to begin with, imo. If anything, it probably isn't final at this stage anyway
  • put the HUD elements in neon white instead of plane white as a start with a slight glow

Definitely not final. We plan to make the HUD look more like it's on a screen, and the simple/ugly looking stuff is def placeholder
