I like the way its done in rc1, having faces with the cars made it much more memorable for me (then again nostalgia is a big part of this)

I would prefer to mix RC1 and RC2 style together. have characters, but they wont be connected to the cars. They would rather eventually change their cars in progress of the story (or your own car specs)

Either seem fine. When you don't name them or show them, it's assumed that the driver is you in third person so it can make a player feel as if he's controlling the beast, instead of controlling the guy controlling the beast. On the other hand, having characters lets a lot of potential for cheesy voice or holo-video interactions between racers (or maybe even your team mechanic cheering you on/chidind your performance like XGRA).

Obviously the latter would require more resources and development time, and especially voice acting and character animation, for something that may not be appreciated by some.

I voted "no" to this poll. However I would be ok with having characters as long as you can interchange them with cars. Or something I would rather have is for you to create your own avatar using a variety of templates. Like what has been done when Psygnosis also published F1 games like "F1 2006 Championship Edition" (Which is the best console F1 game btw!) you could select a variety of templates male or female to suit your profile.

I would still prefer that the player is the racer with an avatar if wanted.

Maybe they were trying to keep the tradition of bad voice acting for the announcers.

The one from type 4 made me feel good when he said "Yeah! only 2 laps to go!" WE CAN HAVE A CHARACTER SOUND LIKE DAVID HAYTER. "This car has ... metal gears"

Having no driver would be boring, and making 5-10 drivers to choose between is not personal. So if possible, I would go for option 3: User-created characters ala. some of the new games coming up (Fallout, Star Citizen etc.)

Too much work for a just a driver, unless there will be cutscenes in story mode where Our driver speaks etc.
