Since the homing type missiles seems to be still in trouble with catching players in curves, wouldn't giving it a bigger AOE effect help?

We deliberately haven't made the (Scorpion) missiles always effective (though they are way, way more effective than missiles in the real world). The reason for this is that it helps to separate the pro players from the noobs and contribute to mastery of the game. Anyone can throw a missile out the moment they collect it, but a pro will instead wait until they know it has a high likelihood of being effective.
