I'm running Christmas Arena at a steady 60 fps.. Why would it dynamically make the textures disappear to save performance when i'm running it just nicely ?
As you can see here
, I can make the trees disappear and reappear again by moving back and forth. This makes the draw distance to be slightly lower than the distance between the wood trunks and the trees.
But maybe when I'm playing without OBS the draw distance increases ? It would be logical, if we assume that it's adjusted compared to how much your computer struggles.
So here is what I did. I played Arena once again, without OBS (so no recording). I found back the initial location i was in my previous run (big thanks to snowman and the center tree for indicating me the way
), and by moving back and forth, I noticed the same exact draw distance
Which is why I'm quite sure (unless I'm missing something) that it's a static parameter, something that does not vary depending on the CPU usage.
EDIT : I found out what it is. Shadow quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2SUcv9B6Tg
When you turn Shadow Quality on Low, it drastically decreases the draw distance.
