The topic title says it all, and I think it should be implemented. Rather annoying getting rammed fresh after respawn (and maybe having to respawn again cuz of that), both for me, and for the one ramming into me.

I'm torn as to how big that issue is.

Doing something about it, imo the current mechanism leads racers to believe the screw up never happened, that you got a 2nd chance with a time rewind. I know arcade-y is where we're going but I'd like to see something different than mario kart blinking. Perhaps that phase-out effect some mentioned, implemented in a grungy/"believable" way (https://cagedelement.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2790).

Re-utilize that effect for the actual stacked-up phasing-out pickup (because it's also a glorified damage denier):
lvl1 flippable shield < lvl2 drone repair < lvl3 phase-out
...and I'd say why not :)

I agree that there should be a short time where a player who reset can not collide with other cars. It is very annoying currently, especially for the one hitting the guy who reset. It usually spins him out and potentially causes an other reset.

So the whole thing is more about making it easier not to ram into a just-respawned car. Then the speed of the respawned car needs to be increased (even very close to full speed) so that it is not an obstacle on the course. Similarly, the delay between holding the respawn key and the time the respawn triggers should be increased so that respawning cannot be taken advantage of.

We've got a solution coming where there's an indication of where the car is spawning, then you can avoid the drop location.

In terms of input, would you guys rather hold the reset button (current implementation) or double tap the button to respawn? There will be a few seconds between successful input and actual spawning

Double-tapping would be more intuitive in terms of knowing whether the respawn action is actually registered. Right now it's hard to tell for how long should the button be held. You can always make a poll out of it.

The only thing that i dont really like is lack of visual "teleportation" effects. And no, i dont think that "invulnerability" after using "car reset" is a good idea.

Can be useful to have teleportation "charge bar" that will fill while holding "reset" button (for when you just have to be sure that holding that button does anything)

The loading bar could be sexy if hold is chosen. Just like potty's suggestion to have a loading bar on HUD reloading after an EMP (it could be the same effect - could also be added during race start still to emulate the loading HUD)

TBH i would prefer more....mechanical way to get car back on track. Like "loader" drone shooting you with magnet harpoon and dragging your car back on track. In a rude way.
But that is unlikely to happen because teleportation is so much easier.

Maybe later....i hope.
