This almost instant turbo gives me a really great feeling. The turbo in the first release just takes too long to get to the peak and thus it misses the moment I needed it at most.
And when it is at its peak the car is not anymore controllable. This should only happen when I use a double turbo or something like that. With 1 turbo activated it shouldn't be so hard to controll the car.

I think this boils down to two points:

  • Shorten the time for the turbo to reach its peak a lot
  • Reduce the overall time the turbo is activated a bit
Also: a double turbo should give me near instantly maximum speed. Though I don't know if a double turbo exists yet.

+1 power-ups seem to take a little while before activating once we pressed the button, and especially the turbo. Just as Justify said, it should be shorter but pin the driver in his seat once you use it.

The sudden increase in speed will make you lose control of your almost immediately, While it can be something that can be looked into the time it takes to get to the maximum speed is part of the mastery we like the players to gain while playing the game for example use it right out the corner to get a minor boost and maximise the boost in the straight away that follows.

I like the way the boost works myself.
Kinda reminds me of the turbo from rollcage, in the way it needs to charge for a sec and then you get a boost you need to WORK for to utilize it to its full extend.

If it was me who would decide it, I would keep it the same.

im pretty sure the boost will be subject to change once the physics are worked out.
as of now, a sudden speed burst would very likley just make your car do funny flips and stuff.
also i think its a nice change of pace from most other racers, here you kind have to think "ahead" when starting the boost as you will reach your peak at the very end.

I too like how it needs to "spool up" as it were, though I do think that should begin the moment you hit the button. That's probably more of an issue with the general pickup usage input latency, though.

The pick-up delay bug is fixed for this next patch, but we're not huge on having the turbo kick in at full speed immediately, as GRIP is more realistic (HA) than Rollcage.

I do agree that it's very hard to control at high speeds, but maybe that's a good thing. It requires some planning, and can't just be used anywhere.

It's by no means finished though, so more testing still needed

Isn't control at high speeds fine atm? I agree it should require planning, I like it the way it is right now
