Why 'or'? Let's have Damage AND No Damage Modes!

@Mods: If a new topic for this isn't necessary in your eyes, please feel free move this to the other already existing thread ;)

So, a while ago, there was a discussion about whether we wanna have destructible cars while racing or not.
Why not make both options available? I know you have your hands full with getting everything else done, but I think that could be a nice little addition after everything else is done.
Whats your opinion on this?

I would love to see cars explode in races. The option just hasn't been added to the menu yet

About explosions, When car explode in the race it would be more realistic if it`s parts would be scattered around so start working on it chris :D

After playing Blur, I support this idea.

To the player, it has a lot of satisfaction to blow up someone.
For the someone being blown up, he can just respawn after 2-3 seconds of penality.

I don't think it would break up that much the flow of the race.
Only add some thrilling moments, and some "Oooh damn !" when you're wrecked.

With an option, people would be able to experiment with it, and then see which one they prefer.

It could work like in wipeout HD, when you`re low on health you could just absorb the powerup to repair yourself.

i like the old Rollcage so no damage, normal i would like damage but i want it to follow in footstep of Rollcage

Except that the game is only inspired of Rollcage and not a sequel to Rollcage (Sony would send some lawyers to Caged in that case...) ;) . So they can make what they want all around the concept of furious racing :)

And I want cars to explode! Let me nuclearize some bots on Yuri Industrial!!!

I dont think so, sony said that Playstation was home of Rollcage so Grip is too, i`m not sure if they would really send lawyers to caged element.
And let`s remember that sony isn`t Micro$hit they are trying to help developers not f*ck them up.

Sry for resurrecting a dead thread...
@Wrob3l - I've seen it too well in PS3 Era ;) HW was quirky but nice as long as you knew how to handle it, but dev support... NC. Let's just say that in most of the cases the support was much, much better on M$ side - really ;)

Also I don't think that MS hate is justified here. Like it or not, but designing/writing an OS with this kind of compatibility and backward compatibility req's is a rather huge and complex task. So far they manage to get it done quite okay (technically, aside from design choices)

Lets get back to the subject however :)
As for the damages... I think that it would be cool to blow somebody up once in a while. The respawn is another question. Personally I think it is unnecessary, and all of the destroyed cars should remain out of the race, no matter if AI or player controlled. On the other hand, the player should be given the option to absorb the pickups to regain part of the energy (repair the car?)
That's just my opinion :)

I have to say I love the destructible cars option.
I do feel like there should be a respawn option available as well, thus pleasing all the sides.

Agreed about the respawning. Something we need to implement in Arena as well, not just last car standing. The respawning needs to be done well, though. Like an animation of the car parts getting slammed back together or something
