GRIP Update to v.1.1.7 is now on Steam

Postby Chris_CE » Wed Dec 28, 2016 10:41 am

Just a small update with some improvements and additions:

  • Car reset code is improved, with very few issues occurring on SkyTrack now
  • Snowstorm added to FIC Outpost. Let us know what you think! (it looks a little odd when the car is stopped, so keep moving ;)
  • Sharpening filter added to the graphics options (off/low/med/high). We find this helps make the game more gritty looking. I personally set it to medium, with FXAA enabled.
  • Large blocking mesh removed from Islands tunnel (was a mistake in the first place)
  • EMP power-up now used less by AI

NOTE: The download size of the update has to do with the way UE4 packages things, which is why it's so large.

imma check it out. brb.

EDIT 1.

HOOOOLY SH*T THE ISLAND TRACK IS AMAZING! Good job whoever made it. You pleased the most picky player on that forum :D

Snow also looks sick, but with sharpening it looks actually more like ice. Which i actually prefer :D It makes alot of sense since norvos isnt earth. And irl there was a planet found that on which theres rain of glass. YES GLASS. You know whats even more cool? ITS RAINING SIDEWAYS AT OVER 200 KM/H. K i got a bit offtopic, let`s go back to the update xD

Physics are alot better although Assassins ai is still stupid (Gonna put the gameplay when it`ll get finished uploading.)

Emm what more...
Oh. The invisible walls on islands. Yeeee. Not feeling that at all. Water should slow down the car as a penalty, and when you get too far it should reset your car/Flood your cars engine (I guess you know which option i preffer  ) There is some floating stones too.

I think its everything. Here you have it. My first positive Update response in a bit xD

EDIT 2.

Gameplay: https://youtu.be/eaWzDGb8Nsk
I was never panicking so hard in this game like i was in the last race xD

FOR THE RAZIELIM!

And with a pot of F*ckedUppery
Powerful Cthulhu created me

One of the first players in Image 3rd or 4th. I dont remember xD

The snow looks nice while moving, but the sharpen effect somehow doesn't sit right with me. It's like I'm not using any texture filter or AA at all.

Yes, all the new wow stuff, so glamorous, much nice, etc.
As the owner of a toaster though, I appreciate the much less thankful performance optimization work.
Maybe I won't need a new machine to enjoy the finished game after all. ;)

(industrial tho, still heavy, much drops)

SkyTrack is finally a decent fun :D

@Raion, optimalization is always on the end of development. My 5yo PC can handle it on ultra in 60fps so after proper optimalization it should run smoothly on older PCs.

new snowstorm is very nice, but looks little weird! ( looks like cutted paper pieces )

that is true.
"Not feeling that at all. Water should slow down the car as a penalty" low speed we have water effect on wheels but hight speeds we havent any effect.

I would hope within the next few updates to seeing. small weather updates on other planets as well as the lines fic outpost.

+ i can't believe how good this game works now on my compuyter i still achievement + 140 fps each track + my mother board ram dual channel system is broken, but game still run extremely good.

Thanks to many good increase during the last 3 update.

Snow does the trick here. Nice!
I also like the new respawn sound :)

Glad you're liking the updates recently.

Islands is super WIP, so it will change quite a bit, remember

The snow I did quite quickly but I think it looks nice at a decent speed, which is what I was aiming for. We will have weather as an option in the menu so it can be turned off (for those who don't like it, or the performance hit is too much)

I actually just changed it to something less... odd.
