Patch v.1.0.4 Released!

Changelist

Tracks:
  • New Norvos Arena: “Festive”. A small, Christmas-themed map. See if you can trigger all the fireworks!
  • Biodome: Big visual upgrade, better map flow and smoother AI pathing
  • Industrial: Blocked several unintentional shortcuts, modified shortcut near end of race
  • Industrial: Changed length of beginning rock tunnel, as it was previously too fast a route
  • Industrial: Added more visual interest in certain areas

Gameplay:
  • Set default vehicle speed to medium in the menu
  • Arena Mode: AI more likely to use pickups, to create more excitement
  • Arena Mode: Increased probability of picking up Scorpion missile and Raptor machine gun
  • Arena mode: Turbos no longer available
  • Pick-ups: Shield no longer uses an inventory slot while active
  • Got rid of pitch air control

Visual:
  • Updated screen dirt texture to remove annoying spots
  • Tweaked damage effects to be less insanely bright
  • Improved vehicle explosion effect
  • HUD in arena mode now shows vehicle indicators
  • HUD now has a lap counter next to the speedo

Misc:
  • “Clock Watch” music track now properly plays ingame
  • Fixed: Cars turn invisible bug
  • Fixed: When vehicle is destroyed shield is removed and AI completely disabled
  • Fixed: various crashes/freezes
  • Lap completion sound

I don't think the AI are very well-equipped for driving at 600km/h because of the catchup lol. :P

Liking the little changes so far. The modifications to that first shortcut caught me by surprise at first, pretty evil. :P The AI seem a lot more aggressive now because they generally have more weapons on them. Though there are a few pickup spots that make them crash (such as that one just at the entry into the final tunnel/the ramp to the right up to the mountain shortcut). They don't seem to be getting stuck too much any more either, and with catchup off the first few laps are pretty insane.



Avast still hates the game though. And my computer keeps throwing these 'your computer is running slowly' errors at me even though it's like, totally not running slowly. 20-35% CPU usage, a few gigs of RAM and 1.2GB on my GTX980, and it's demanding I turn Windows Aero off. lol.

Look at that, I launch steam to check out my wishlist (poor wallet) and there's the update pending. Nice try, but... actually, you totally distracted me.
It's not that I want to ruin your holidays but... that shield. It looks as if now it's impossible to get rid of. Mostly because it probably doesn't register any collisions with the environment or protect from weapons. Not sure, further testing needed, but it's late now, and the IA isn't the most cooperative in my endeavors.
Regardless, have a nice one.

Glad you guys like the update! We really focused on making arena more fun, and I think we succeeded

Also, I can't stress enough that this patch was much more than just my doing. Rob did a bunch of code, Simen suped up his Biodome and Dave was doing QA and management. So multiple people need breaks ;)

Yeah it seems to be quite broken. Will look into it once Xmas has passed

I can second this. They get stuck is different places now. Even the ramps aren't helping in some cases. Can't help but feel sorry until they actually get out and start shooting at me. ;)

Good job devs with the new patch. My only problem is that the shield is pretty much useless. i still take full amount of damage even if its applied. I've been hit by several rockets and my shield didnt pop and i took the damage.
