Car handling

Postby yellowquiet » Thu Sep 10, 2015 9:20 pm

Will there be styles of handling like grippy cars, drifty cars, cars that handle with a RWD or a, FWD or, AWD drive train?
Kinda related
I didn't even know what was in the splatter pack before I bought it.

Got a car with massive understeer? Slam the handbrake, swing out the backend of it and drift that thing like you're the Hulk in a wheelchair.
We all know that smoothly gliding through corners like this feels absolutely euphoric.
(don't have a better vid. Considering Potty plays Lenny, I welcome him to make a drifting video)

+1 for drifty cars.

Rob's already introduced a drift mechanic and it's awesome. Just hit spacebar (or whatever button on controller) and the car goes into a drift.

Sounds easy, but it's not. It takes considerable skill to make it around the bend the way you want. The drifting doesn't feel or look automatic.

Different types of cars will have different handling and GRIP associated with the car's mechanics. We'd like tires to play a role as well

so will it basicly be like ridge racer where you push the break and the car goes into a "drift mode" that you have to handle or is that button more of a handbreak and you still have to get the right angle/acc. to initiate the drift like in the NFS or Burnout series?

for people who don't know Ridge Racer:

It still acts as a handbrake but if you tap it while turning full tilt, the back tires kick out and you transition into a drift. You can still drift without using handbrake though, it's just harder

Sounds fun!
Image drifing with 500km/h and giving someone the good ol' Driller while overtaking 8-)

There will be so much need for replay functionality...
