Indeed, the heels are off, quite a bit.

I'm not complaining, just pointing that out.

Good point, I agree. thanks

I like the heels tho. At least it's a bit of something feminine on the pic.

@FrostPL

Agreed.

High heels are also a bit sexist in this context. It just makes no sense whatsoever. That aside its still a very nice artwork.

Well the easiest way to make them more feminine or lets say human would be to let them take the jacket and helmet off.

Just saying.

Thanks guys for all the feedback so far. I talked to Chris CE and came up with these design sketches. What do you guys think about the look and feel? Please use numbers in the image to refer to your choices, thanks!

Good attempt (:
Overall in my taste, the feeling is more of wariors than racers (though GRIP racing is illegal)
Going more into details If I may, Terra and Vintek look too similar.
  • Terra being earth but Vintek being inspired by "human" cars...
  • ...perhaps Terra has heavily cybernetically enhanced human beings (taller, longer limbs, helmets fused with the head etc...)
Black, nuances of grey, dark colors, gleaming red or blue cybernetic parts here and there
[I think it would go well with the futuristic military feel of Terra cars]
  • ...whereas Vintek folks (still earth planet?) rejected all that with a more retro vibe (smaller toons, safety jackets, chute on the back, orange and yellow jackets etc...)
  • Ofc Cygon would be totally alien (tentacles and stuf)... ?

All nice but i like 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 the most

That low detail style is ok (its sketches after all) but 6, 9 and 10 definitly need some more detail in the face area.

Number 9 is kinda not my thing.

Number 7 has a very classic posse (still better then no. 9). You could give him something unique with some special detail. Maybe sunglasses. Or real glasses. A face tatoo? Maybe for someone diffrent like no.2 since 7 is more the pretty boy.

4-5 for Terra and 10-11 for Vintek. I kinda lean for the more futurisctic & armored stuff.

Clearly seeing talent above, but stuff ain't futuristic enough imo.
I mean, why limit the imagination so much?

Driving with the hands and feet... Seriously?
  • where's the neural interface of pilots jacked-in like in the matrix?
  • where are the mutilated bodies injected with highly unstable sense enhancing drugs?
  • where are the difformities of a life spent in depravation and drug abuse in the fast lane?
For the love of the Almighty, let's live a little! No WW2 guerilleros from the desert please.

You could use that whole Hybrid concept from Battlestar Galactica for some cars or maybe an actual manufacturer. Basically a pilot fused to the car.

I wasn't even going there! Rig drivers at Mach 1 is something we should see in their appearance, like reckless junkies of sorts

We could also see some additional cybernetic limbs. Just 'cause

I like that idea.

In my view they are adrenaline junkies who dont care about any laws. A future punk vibe would fit them.

A bit like an adult version of the pill popping motorcycle gangs from akira.

Now if i think about it the machines have maybe a too profssional look at the moment. Some burn marks, dirt and skull paintings could give it a nice touch. You know just some stuff to ease it up a bit.

Their suits have nothing to do with racing. Why would anyone have guns and rifles? And why even pockets for such things? And driving in skirt, blazer... wtf?

Thanks Queadah! Those are some great suggestions, and I agree, stuff has to be way more futuristic and I am clearly restricting myself here. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I will get back to the drawing board and get to work on making this much more interesting.
If anyone wants to help me out with references that they'd like to see me try, please PM me any images you want. Its much better as a community effort ;)
