Hairpins was a great idea!

Postby crazycupmuffin » Sun Dec 18, 2016 10:54 pm

I don't think people understood how cool it would be to go through a hairpin in these cars. I think they just assumed hairpins equals slowing down.
But i'd love nothing more than to go through multiple hairpin tunnels. Speeding into one, straight into the wall. And coming out the other side on the ceiling. Please tell me this might make it into something, someday, somewhere? :(

I think hairpins are fun and introduce a lot of new challenges and more variety to the tracks, but I understand that they should be carefully used and people usually don't like braking in a racing game. Wall-riding could make hairpins negotiable without braking, and in a game like this, we could have vertical hairpins, which are always fun. Imagine driving into a cave or structure and hitting a vertical hairpin to move onto a higher level of the structure. Essentially, a really tight upward half-loop.

There are multiple vertical hairpins in a row in one of the Carkour nightmare difficulty maps. Is that similar to what you mean?

I assume this is the track you meant. If so, yes, except this is what I meant by vertical.

And I think it would be nice to have one or two normal hairpins in the game, where you have to brake significantly to make the turn.

A vertical hairpin would be awesome... the way I envisage this is to have it set up kind of like the overlap section in 'flood zone' from RC1 (where vehicles can end up racing head on).

You would enter a sort of half pipe from a point high up, race down a long straight section of track, and at the end, instead of a hard turn like the one on flood zone, there would be a vertical hairpin that you can enter from either side, after hitting the hairpin you race back down the same straight and exit under the drop off point that you entered from.

Jeff's got another track in progress similar to skytrack where there's a vertical hairpin. I'm also adding something to Islands that should make players happy
