So rockets are fun for the user, but it sucks being on the receiving end right?
How about a weapon that absorbs rockets and transforms them into energy or returns them to the sender to inflict offensive damage?
So here's how I see it, someone fires a rocket at you (standard or blue shell), just before impact you have a window to activate the Pay Back and catch the incoming rocket. Affects could vary i.e. return to sender, absorb as health, transform into instant boost...
To ad to the strategy I suggest that blue shell's (sorry I've forgotten what they're called in Grip - harpoon's?) get an added feature. Tap the launch button once to hit the rear of the lead car, but double tap the launch button to have the blue shell pass the leader and return to hit it from the front (like RC1 and 2). So effectively the lead driver would have to commit to defending front OR back, not both, as the payback only works for that brief window.
(double tap could be a way to initiate secondary functions for other weapons too)
