Well there are songs with a lot of vocals, and there are songs with few, or just samples, and some can really work too.
And what could be a best example than something we all know, which was in Rollcage the first (yes it's a lord)?

Personally I would not mind Vocals but I can see why people do not want vocals in the game. Personally I would not mind them at all. Yet I feel like they would have to be related to the game in a way. I mean personally I think Muzzy -Get Crazy and Muzzy & Droptek - Warhead are some great songs that has vocals but fit the game great. So, in a way I can see where people are coming from if they say no to vocals.

So long as the song fits the situation IDGAS whether it's got vocals or not. In the case of GRIP, or any combat racer for that matter, anything that gets the blood pumping, the adrenaline flowing, and the energy levels MAXED THE F**K OUT is fine by me lol I JUST WANNA FEEL THE RUSH WHOOO
OK, tell it to me straight... in Rollcage Stage II... was Winter Wonderland II even possible to Gold Medal...?

I enjoy vocals in game music when they're done with the right atmosphere.
Not sure this game is the right place for full lyrics but a few well chosen words in a few well chosen spots can add a lot to tracks that are still mostly instrumental.
An odd choice for ship's cat...

Also if people don't like vocals in the game music there's already a feature that lets you pick and choose which songs play and don't play on a song-by-song basis :3
