The Turbo Boost Power up sound

Postby Aura-Master » Wed Feb 03, 2016 5:05 pm

One of the iconic things that sticks in my mind about Rollcage was the sound of the Turbo power up.

It's unmistakable and was the same in rollcage and in stage II

Can we have this sound but Enhanced for Grip??

I actually really love the approach they took with Grip. I think I'd prefer Grip's boost power up, both in sound and function.

@apex - I'm not having a dig at the developer in anyway... Perhaps they could have the option to choose classic sounds and a combination?

One thing is for certain... the sounds were absolutely important to Rollcage and therefore Grip.

Absolutely. I don't think I'd be able to give an honest opinion regarding old RC SFX being implemented into this game without my nostalgia glasses, though. Those things are hard to take off once you put 'em on...

Regardless, I'm all for players having options and customization at their disposal, so if ever there came a time where there were the following audio settings:

Default GRIP SFX
Enhanced RC SFX (or something like that - a rose by any other name, of course)
MLG NoScope 360 SFX (...I still remember that thread)

Hey, that'd be pretty fun to have.

They can't lift anything from Rollcage and they don't want to either.
Either way, somewhere along the way they'll have a gander at mod tools. Or if that takes too long, we can bother Chris/Rob later about having the game import sound files straight from the filesystem at loadtime instead of pakking everything up.
Whether or not they agree with it though, I cannot say.

You're right, there was something about that huge RUSH sound that really got your heart going!!!

Personally I do prefer the current turbo sfx over the RC ones (they were great aswell tho).

I'll be the nut breaker here and say I think it's good GRIP develops and solidifies its own identity here.
No sound effect customization option.

It's exactly where the devs' work stop... and where the community's begin (e.g. Gary's mod)!
Customizable playlist is exactly that middle ground, we get to play RC music if we tweak it ourselves. It would be a classy coincidence that the sound effect folder be "patchable" a similar way...
