Um, meet 'n greet! Right!

Hi. I'm Xirahii. I played RC1 and RC2 as a really teeny person when my father used to bring home CDs filled with an assortment of game demos every time he'd come home from work.

RC1, and later on RC2, were on those CDs.

I had a graphics card at the time that ran both of those games at the speed of potato. By potato we're talking baked potato - 10 ~ 15 FPS. Outstandingly, I still had a blast with both games and that was before I was old enough to think critically about the differences between RC1 and RC2. Sadly, I was totally out of touch with the RC series until several years ago when I was stricken with the desire to have a nostalgia trip. I discovered that Codemonkey had tinkered around with RC1 and RC2, so I downloaded them and proceeded to have my mind blown all over the walls because this was the first time I was playing these games at full FPS and the sense of speed was incredible. I also was getting my ass handed to me (by Extreme AI, which I instantly started on) and still had the time of my life.

Time-skip to recently - the announcement of GRIP comes along and I giggle like a giddy schoolgirl.

I had always played the RC series with a keyboard, and was reluctant to switch to analog control even though I've got an Xbox 360 remote. However, purely out of personal preference, I quickly became more comfortable with how much control I've got over my car in comparison to the keyboard and I'm trying to become 100% accustomed to it.

Until recently, I was completely oblivious that there was apparently the existence of a competitive Rollcage scene(?) which also hosts tournaments occasioally. I was like, "cool", and proceeded to lurk creepily in the shadows observing their gameplay footage on YouTube and Twitch so that I could witness how much I suck in comparison and hopefully observe how they play and use that data to help my own skill on RC1 and GRIP (although the handling here, I know, is notably different and since a few versions ago mynameisnolongerNeo)

I'm contemplating on participating in the tournaments whenever they should happen so that I can, indeed, have a first-hand experience at getting my ass handed to me, but it also sounds like immense fun. So I'll be thinking about it.

Let's make this game awesome.

TL;DR - Hi, I'm Xirahii. I like RC and this game. Please wreck me when you see me. Thanks!

Well, there have only been 2 tournaments hosted by the steam group, and we're still learning...

(*shameless self plug start*)
Best place to learn from others is in the weekly game in the rollcage steam group!
Drop by once in a while!
We won't bite :) (much  )

Hi all. Loved Rollcage in my younger days, I'm the wrong side of 45 now.

Wish I'd discovered GRIP earlier than yesterday. Looks like I've been missing out on lots of fun.
Ah well, better late than never. 8-)

You are not on the wrong side.
You can become the elder of our multiplayer Rollcage Steam Group :D

Fairly new here and to the Rollcage franchise itself, but got super excited when I saw GRIP 's first trailer. Racing simulators like GRID and Project CARS bore me; to see something like this - something that reminded me a lot of WipEout and Mario Kart, with weapons and stuff (and on PC!) - got my joints jumping. For some reason I didn't back the project until the game entered Early Access, but I like what I'm seeing so far, including the people both here and on the Steam forums, especially the developers. This community is a lot more friendly in contrast from other forums I've visited.

I, uh, stock shelves for a living. Third shift. My dream job would be going to California and writing for some tech magazine (ex. PCWorld, MaximumPC).

My favorite hobby besides gaming is writing. I really enjoy expressing myself through it - short stories, opinions, reviews, etc. - but were you were to meet me in real life, you'd quickly find out I'm pretty socially awkward.

I try to stay away from Windows and Microsoft as much as I can...for (insert rant here). Linux guy. Hence why I'm looking forward to GRIP arriving on Linux, should there be plans for it. (Oh, this game won't work with Wine if you're curious...I tried)

Lastly, as you can probably decipher from my avatar, I play Skullgirls a ton...406 hours...no game, at least on PC, has got me so hooked. I'd write here how I got into it but for the sake of our short attention spans I'll stop here. (Oh, and some gameplay footage...just because I had to.)

Nice to meet ya'll :D

Hi everyone,

Mostly been a lurker on these fora - up till now.

I've been a fan of racing games since I was quite young (NFS Porsche 2000.. And every NFS since). I became familiar with GRIP a while ago, and quite frankly said - have fallen in love with it ever since. The speed, the driving, the level of skill required to drive a lap perfectly... I just love it.

And ehm.. Well, I guess that'll do for now ^.^

Hi, I'm Silverviolet :D

As far as my relevant gaming history goes, I only ever played Rollcage 2 on the Playstation 1, but I credit both Rollcage and G-Police with helping to establish my love for racing and sci-fi games in general. Both games definitely left a permanent impression on me, so when I saw that GRIP had released publicly on Steam I was, to say the least, very excited.

Other combat racing games I've played were mainly Jak-X Combat Racing on PS2 and Wipeout on the PSP. And probably some others but those two were most memorable.

I know Formula Fusion is doing something similar to GRIP, trying to bring back the old AG Racing genre. But frankly it seems that GRIP's development has a lot more traction (pun intended).

Currently playing Warframe, Elite Dangerous, and likely Overwatch soon.

Hey! I'm ChaosKC,

I have always been a fan of racing games, really getting into them when I found the Rush games for the N64. When I saw one of the trailers for Grip it brought back such a nostalgic feel as it reminded me a lot of those racing games I've played.

Overall I play a lot of different games, most people consider me a PC gamer but I have a rich history with handhelds and consoles.

Fun fact: This is the first online forum I've been apart of. Normally I just play early access games but GRIP is the first one I've really wanted to give feed back for, I really want to see it do well.

Currently playing/re-playing: Left 4 Dead 2, Rocket League, Kirby Super Star Utra and of course, GRIP

Welcome to the forum durimaster (hell, i was sure i had already replied :/), Silverviolet and ChaosKC :)

@Durimaster: same here. Rollcage/Grip are the only racers that are hard enough in terms of driving, and with badass weapons.
Well, there's Blur too. But I prefer Rollcage/Grip :)

@Silverviolet: I do hope Formula Fusion will kick out soon. I like the wipeout series - but i'd like it more if it was on PC with proper multiplayer and stuff. I'm looking forward to play FF once they get it done

@ChaosKC: I hope you will enjoy this forum :) I guess there's a lot to read for a newcomer.. But there are some very interesting discussions out there, some of them have helped shape Grip (and will continue to help I'm sure)

I've never heard of the Azores islands. Man, you guys are way out into the North Atlantic!
I love how the fanbase of a game can stretch to cover the entire planet (though I must admit I haven't met too many Chinese fans yet) :D

Hello! I'm Olivier. I grew up with the Playstation One, and Rollcage Stage II became my favorite game ever since I started playing it. Now that GRIP is here, I'm not sure if I should buy it yet...

But I probably will.

Hello to all you Rollcage players out there!
