Re: The Overwatch Thread

Postby potterman28wxcv » Thu Jun 16, 2016 4:11 am

After having tried my hand on it, it's a good game, but it really lacks something to make me play over and over.

I don't know what it is exactly. But I cannot get into the game. I don't have the "Yeah i have won !" when I win, and I feel like it's pretty much one-sided everytime. Also there's no way to balance the teams within a match... And it's just not fun to fight for 5 minutes knowing that you can't do anything because of the skill difference.

I also don't like at all the design of the maps - especially when there is only one way in. Then the entire offensive team gathers somewhere before the entrance and nothing much happens for a couple of minutes.

I do get some fun times here and there, but I feel like it's too parse compared to the dull/boring times where you need a very good synchronized team to capture the point, and that's not going to happen any soon.

And I think this is the big negative point for me : in TF2, even if my team is losing hard, by picking the right character, it is possible to push forward the team. Here in Overwatch, the characters feel both overpowered but also useless when played alone.. You need at least someone else to push your team, but it is so unlikely to happen that you feel hopeless.

That was a honest review Potterman and I also agree whit the last one, but not just whit the right class, the good load-out also counts (sometimes).

TF2 have 9 class whit multi-class function while, Overwatch have 21 class whit a specific role. What do I mean about this, let's pick the sniper class from both game Widowmaker and Mr. Mundy (sniper).
In TF2 the sniper is classified as a support class, but you can play it aggressively or defensively as well, because you can change his load-out any time for a specific role or play style (Sydney sleeper + jarate = support, huntsman + any SMG or jarate = aggressiv style, any sniper rifle whit headshot function + any shield = defensive).
In Overwatch Widow stuck whit an automatic sniper rifle(?), a toxic landmine, a grappling hook, and her infra-visor. Not much option if you ask me (of course I never played her).

The reason is, in TF2 you can go on solo whit any class unlike in Overwatch, where you depend on the other teammates, but good communication whit the other teammates negates this problem. (except you are Broscar, whit Reaper on defense)

Then they opened a portal to another dimension and kidnapping the locals.
The pissed locals are head enough and strike back.

Looks like I'm finally appreciating Overwatch now. I have past the frustration wall - now that I have basic notions of who counters who, and that I have a couple of mains, I'm starting to really have fun in the game.

In TF2 usually I don't play more than 1 hour. Play a few maps, have some fun, and then that's it. But in Overwatch there is something that keeps me playing;

I think it might be that the characters are a lot more dynamic in Overwatch. For example, Diva can thrust in, wipe some guys, then retreat using her shield.. Or if she has her ulti, she can thrust in and activate it to launch a real bomb to explode, and then get a new mech right away.

And it's kind of the same with all the classes. You can do crazy stuff with all (or almost all) of them. And the weapons feel way more badass than in TF2 - you really have the feeling to be OP if you pick the right class.

I just wish more people were playing Support. I'm kind of tired to play Support during half of my games, because no one is willing to :-P
(but in TF2 it's the same thing. The number of games I ended Medic because no one was Medic is quite high)

So far my favourites are Mei, Torbjorn, Mercy, Zenyatta and Lucio. I also play Soldier, Reinhardt, Pharah, Diva, Roadhog or Hanzo depending on the situation.
I would really like to main Symmetra but she is very hard to play, and I feel useless most of the time I play her (her teleport alone is not worth it to take her imo. It's not like TF2 where there are ~15 team members - here there's just 5 team mates, so your teleports are hardly used)

We really should team up sometime!
Team composition and strategic pushing is quite important and if you're playing in random teams, well, there's always the odd Winston who thinks he can rush in alone against a Symmetra and a Reaper.

Synergizing with other people is incredibly satisfying.
Remember how D.va's ult is great tool for area of denial, but rarely gets decent eliminations? That changes when your best buddy Mei jumps in and blocks off the main escape route of the opponents (just hope they don't have a Mei themselves, in which case you'd need another teammate to counter her).

I propose to dump here our Blizzard's ID. Mine is potterman28#2806 (without my beloved "wxcv" sadly.. character limit)

Looks like they disabled mouse emulation after yesterday's patch (probably to prevent aimbot hackers); there's this huge-ass thread on the Battle.net forums of people reporting their Steam controller no longer working in-game, even though it works fine in the menus.

And sad to say I'm one of those victims.

The funny thing is, Blizzard didn't even disclose this in the patch notes. Now you know when there's an update, there might be something that goes on behind the scenes, without us even knowing it.

Not sure if we're going to get a fix on this or not.

It's the four first letters of the third row of the AZERTY keyboard. Just as simple as that.

Now, the reason why I chose this, is because one day I was so ashamed of what i wrote in a forum as potterman28 that i wanted to create potterman28wxcv and make people believe that someone pirated my potterman28 account. i wanted to be close enough to the "potterman28", so I just added "wxcv" because it was the four first letters. I was 14 years old then.. You are so stupid at that age.

I'm not even a Harry Potter fan. I never was actually.. This nickname was just created in 2 minutes because I needed one to play Runescape at my school.
