Postby Cybruiser57Péter » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:10 am

Well I want to update my "potato" to at least I can run GRIP whit 40-50FPS but I don't want fancy or expensive because: not everyone swimming in money

my current Specs is:

Win 7
intel HD Graphics 4400
i3-4130 CPU 3.40GHz
8 GB DDR3

My original idea is put a Intel Core i5-4590 and Asus GTX750

one of the things i did that gives me a great amount of framerate is i lowered the resolution to 720X400 and i lowered all the graphics, motionblur, and put the shadows on "med" and it runs great for me :) figured this could help until you are able to update your computer like me WARNING: this will put two black bars on your screen "movie style" and the right side of your hud will be gone

My settings are all low and 720p and that's how I achieved 20fps max

A HD 4400 just won't do, guys, no matter the settings.

Cybruiser, the game is still early in development, so the game might become either easier or more demanding to run over time.
You can check here to see what kind of performance people are getting with their setups on the current build of the game, though most of the stuff in there is pretty overpowered.

Personally, I'd focus on getting a new GPU first and after that perhaps a CPU upgrade. For all we know a new GPU might be enough.
How much do you plan on spending?

Thanks but I way headed of you I already checked the others performance.
How much do I spend around 200 euro.

If you have no problem with second-hand cards (maybe you can find one which still has warranty on it), you can try looking at those as they give you a lot more power for the money compared to brand new cards.
If you can find a Nvidia GTX 750Ti (4GB version!) for cheap, consider getting that. For the full €200 you can get a second-hand AMD R9 290, which is top of the line right now, but your processor will bottleneck it in most games (the CPU can't keep up).
Getting both a GTX 750 and a Core i5-4590 is impossible for €200. €250 should be enough though, if you get both parts second-hand.

The CPU is weak but not terrible. Just grab a GTX 950, which can be had for around $140 USD. Not sure how that price translates to €. Failing that, get a GTX750Ti for around $100-$120.

Just under €130. As for a 750Ti, I would personally try stretch to a 760, as the performance is markedly higher. Price-wise, not so much.

Looking on ebay.de (because why not?) a GTX 760 is anywhere from about €80 to €150. A GTX 670 for €125. Both similar performing cards, much better than HD4XXX range from Intel, and not "too" power hungry.

As for a CPU upgrade, even from ebay.de, you're going to struggle unless you can stump for about €300. Sadly, CPUs hold their value better than GPUs. Unless you wanted to swap to an Intel LGA 775 socket and run an Intel Core 2 Quad for about €80. Before switching to a new motherboard.

A new GPU looks to be the best option right now, as there's plenty of decent cards out there within your price, and it's the most likely bottleneck you're experiencing right now.

Thanks for the help/suggestion, I will consider it about which GPU to pick.
But my only concern is my CPU. I bet she not gone handle these beasts. :(

I think your GPU is the bigger problem. Unless you go for really much more powerful GPU, such as R9 290 or GTX960/970, I believe you wouldn't notice the CPU bottleneck.

I've tested the game on an Ivy Bridge Core i5 with Intel HD4000, some SSD and 8GB RAM. Runs like crap even on lowest settings.

I've also been playing the game a bit on another PC with Ivy Bridge i5, normal HDD, 16GB RAM and ATI Radeon 7750 (1GB GDDR5). Runs acceptably on medium settings. Still, I can't get anywhere near the visuals and framerate as seen in the trailer and some let's play videos :D

Good to know, but what I mean about the CPU can't handle is the GPU.
Update: the GTX750 titan is sitting next to me and I can thick about what to do next.

The Ti stands for "Titanium", not Titan ;)

Your next step? Well, no point upgrading CPU for just 750Ti. Your best bet is to simply save up for a new CPU and GPU combo, as in i5 and something from the Pascal (next nVidia GPUs) that will be coming out later this year. That will basically be enough to last you for quite few years if you're the more "casual" type.

Can you scrape enough cash for GTX 970 ?? that should run your game just fine ;)
If you run into bottleneck problems with your CPU, you can upgrade it later.
Upgrading your current CPU for the 750 Ti is nonsense.
