It would be really nice if this mode could still exists in the game for up to 4 players. I just want to be sure you'll not kick it out because of these "modern" times of game development. ;)

They said multiplayer mode will be available, so surely split screen is inevitable? :P

When the game hits early access, I will be working with about ~19 other folks. When the gaming friday arrives, I'll throw Grip splitscreen into the fray.

Sounds great! But split-screen won't be implemented until further in development.

Ah, ok. Doesn't really matter, I think everyone can take turns here. We're patient people :)

Otherwise I'll throw the spiritual predecessor at them.

Just do it! (insert shia here)

Spread rollcage and then get them hyped and make them donate for grip!

Well, no multiplayer matches have been played yet when it comes to the spiritual predecessor, as everyone's busy and it's not the date of early access yet. However, I have been playing it intentionally at certain moments of the day, and the people present have been looking over my shoulder while I was playing.

I have the feeling they want to join the fun, so I might just slip an extra controller into my backpack and then act surprised when I find it...

Split screen ok, but wouldn't multi monitor be as important these days? Player 1 on monitor 1, player 2 on monitor 2, etc.

there are very few games these day that even support native multimon settups other than stretch the image accross all mons.
this would be freaking awesome but also a very very huge technical hurdle to take, on the devs side and also on the PCs performance side.

A hurdle on performance side, yes. But technically I don't think it will be harder than split screen, today APIs can actually make it even easier.

I was able to test split screen mode yesterday with a friend and had lots of fun with it. Maybe next time I get those other 2 invited to join and hopefully by then 4 players split screen support is implemented (well probably not that soon). Though I'm not completely sure if GTX570 is able to handle 2 more players. I noticed slight lag occasionally with 2 players, but it didn't bother that much since it wasn't too frequent.

I also hope that cumulative points support between races are implemented within the next couple of updates. It's much more fun when races and scores are linked for multiple tracks. It could also be fun to mix-and-match modes:
1) Race: On Level X
2) Elimination: On Level Y (mirrored)
3) Race: On Level Z (backwards, mirrored <- both could be a random setting too)
4) Deathmatch: On Level W
---------
And winner is ...

Last wish is to get some new Deathmatch track. An inside area would be preferred for variety even if that might be challenging when using missiles. Constructed with Liddo 5 pipes only. I think Stage II had a circle map with road sections in the middle, something like that would do nicely.

Ah, you mean like mini-tournaments where they accumulate points. Yeah that would be cool in single player as well as multiplayer. Just have to take into consideration people dropping out in multiplayer. That could ruin the fun of a multiple event competition pretty quick

As for Arena maps, I'm afraid we're not doing much with that mode until we have more resources to do so. In the fall we should be dedicating some nice attention to it

I think for online tournament it's probably best to start with Race, Elimination and Death Match divided by Ranked and Non-Ranked (Quick Matches). Then possible have a lobby system to customize race options beyond non-standard settings. You might be correct that mini-tournaments mode may not work well with public online, but could be great for Career, local and private matches. I think local game modes can have more customization options than public online modes. At least at the beginning so that the player base doesn't divide into too many sub groups.

Yeah we're keeping it very simple at first. Not a lot of choice until our player base increases
