How exactly CATCH-UP work in GRIP

Postby Eurox » Tue Oct 25, 2016 6:52 pm

Hi,
i would like to know how catch-up assist works, its like in old rollcage (faster other cars then first one) or in different way?

I mean, i dont like idea make other players faster then leader ( they had better unfair records on lap, better then in time trial)
But, i like idea that racers are more together...

off topic: should be there some shorter tracks (like in Rollcage) about 20 sec on lap. It is really fun and really fighting race.

The further you are behind the faster you get, the further in the lead you are the slower you go I think :)

In Rollcage the last player is a LOT faster than the leader and while it is unfair, you gotta admit it does an awesome job at keeping the group together and giving everyone a chance to finish in first place.
GRIP's ketchup is very weak (it might still be broken even), but balancing is an issue for later, when more weapons/vehicles/tracks are implemented. However, I'm fairly certain you can expect it to act more like Rollcage in the future.

Other than that, you can turn it off whenever you want. Worst case scenario multiple implementations of ketchup might be brainstormed, but offering options to select a different implementation sounds like feature creep and user confusion to me.

What do you think would be a good ketchup implementation?
I can't think of any other way other than influencing powerup chances and car speed, but I just might be too set in my ways to be able to think of a different way :p

well I think it's just me being a scrub but I kind of hate catch up cause it's like the game is changing my speed class while I race so sometimes I kind of mess up even more because of it since my brain can't catch up with the changes :)
