I'll just bump this thread by saying I really dig my own idea (narcissistic post of the month, yay \o/), that the flag should be able to be passed from players to others like a missile.

Just dropping it to be picked up (though that should be possible) doesn't cut it, and I think it'd slow the pace of the game too much (turning to go back to the flag, clunky manoeuvers etc...).

Basically with my proposition, you'd have a version of American football with cars, not a soccer one when you have to hit an item with your car, but something more dynamic.

Definitely keen for CTF, it could be another option in the Arena menu, and use the same arenas just modified a bit to have definite 'ends' and bases.

Carrying the flag while copping machine gun fire from 4 other cars and dodging incoming missiles would be insane!! :o

Maybe some tunnels leading into the bases so thats where you try and escape into

Oh guys i just had a small idea too, Leader missiles would be flag-carrier missiles and as a counter to that you have a "magnetize" pick-up that says if you're allied with the flag carrier and you are within X distance of the flag carrier then the leader missile will prioritize you.

I think this creates a nice teamplay dynamic for the team with the flag. Just a thought :)

Nice idea! I can hear it over headset chat now:

"On the way back to base with the flag! Ahh no carrier missile coming in"
"No worries man Ive got a magnet Ive got you back"
*gets hit and takes one for the team and they score a capture* 8-)

A magnet pickup is a good idea, but it would be useful only for that mode to catch the missile/flag, right ?... or you make it useful in race by being able to pull your enemy :lol:

Would make more sense if it was a homing missile, then you could shoot the flag to your buddies. But opposing teams can target the missile with their weapons as well to make the flag drop, where it has to be driven over to be picked up

Well the magnet would relate to CTF so it's not all that off-topic. Interesting idea, but would require testing to see if it works in the context of the game

with large map it will be ! :) Also more than 3 players because of the map size if you want i can try to make a simple idea map on the paint :)

Thumbs up for this game mode.

And yes larger size map should fix the problem, take the Arena maps as reference in size.
